Centrally Located
South Lake County’s central location allows convenient travel to destinations throughout Florida and beyond.
The county is about 20 miles west of Orlando. The county is served by Highway 50, which traverses the state from the East to the West coasts; Florida Highway 192, which connects motorists in Lake, Polk, Brevard and Osceola counties; and by U.S. Highway 27 that extends 480 miles through 19 counties.
The county is also dissected by the Florida Turnpike, and is nearby the 408 Expressway, Interstate 4, and even Interstate 75 that extends through nearly all of Florida, providing a direct route to northern states.
Airports include Orlando International Airport in Orlando and Orlando Executive Airport, which is often used by corporate travelers. South Lake travelers also have access to Leesburg Regional Airport, Bob White Field and Lakeland Linder Regional Airport, each of which offer daily service to many cities.
Travel by train is close by via the Amtrak station in Orlando. A Greyhound Bus Lines terminal in nearby Leesburg offers transportation to thousands of destinations across the country. Lynx, Metro-Orlando’s Regional Bus System comes into South Lake County in the Four Corners area and will loop around to Clermont via Highway 27, then back to Orlando on State Road 50.
Lake County Connection, a local public transportation system, allows residents to pay just $1 for local trips to school, shopping or medical appointments from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
