"Old Florida" Meets Contemporary Feel

For a dose of the authentic charm of “Old Florida” and a bit of culture and history, there is no place better to visit than South Lake County. Brick-paved streets can still be found that may just lead to an interesting gallery or theatre.

Want to take part in a jazz festival at a local winery? Relax to the lilting strains of a 60-member orchestra? See a play by William Shakespeare or Neil Simon? Tour an art gallery? These and more cultural activities are available in South Lake County and make it a compelling place to live, conduct business or spend a vacation.

The annual jazz festival takes place at Lakeridge Winery and Vineyard in Clermont, where 200,000 gallons of wine and sparkling champagne are produced each year.

Follow the sound of applause to nearby Moonlight Players Warehouse Theatre in Clermont. The company presents a range of theatrical productions from musicals to the classics, as well as thought-provoking, contemporary dramas.

Audiences have witnessed the debut of the Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra in Groveland. The symphony offers a full schedule of concerts throughout the county.

Music can also be heard at South Lake festivals. These add to the area’s vibrancy and reflect each town’s unique character. The city of Mascotte’s annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration features cultural exhibits, live entertainment and authentic Mexican fare. Other South Lake cities also have celebrations including: Light Up Clermont in December; Minneola Fall Fest in October; Montverde Days in November; and 4th of July in Groveland.
