World of Recreational Adventures
The natural resources of Tavares provide the means for a world of recreation adventures. Lake Eustis and Lake Dora make fishing and water sports extremely popular. The city also operates eight parks on a total of more than 250 acres. Wooton Park, located off Lake Dora, is the site of many city-sponsored events. It features a playground, picnic spots, and boat ramps. Hickory Point is a 68-acre park on Lake Harris with 12 boat ramps and a marina pavilion. Woodlea Sports Complex includes a multi-purpose sports field and skateboard facility.
Fred Stover Park has four ball fields and holds annual adult and youth tournaments. The City of Tavares and Babe Ruth sponsor local baseball leagues. The Tavares Nature Park off of SR 19, offers passive recreation opportunities such as hiking and bird watching.
Several local golf courses, BayTree, Deer Island, Mission Inn, Sarabande and Village Green offer challenges for varying skill levels in natural Florida settings.
