The West Orange Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to West Orange County! We invite you to enjoy our community whether you are a visitor, newcomer, business prospect or resident.
Our location, natural beauty, tropical climate and small-town atmosphere offer a unique venue for your home, family or business. Please take the time to discover West Orange County for yourself and see why thousands of people call this area home, and why West Orange businesses thrive in the central Florida area.
The West Orange community boasts a variety of distinct identities, each of which make the area a unique place to live, vacation and do business. Our ever-expanding urban centers offer all of the advantages of transacting business in a big city without the congestion, confusion and common problems found in major cities. West Orange still holds the advantages of the small-town community where the hardware store owner calls you by name and the local mayor visits your home on any given day. We are proud to boast two towns Windermere and Oakland, two cities Ocoee and Winter Garden, three planned developments Dr. Phillips, MetroWest and Horizon West, two rural settlements Gotha and Lake Avalon and two of the oldest communities Pine Hills and Orlo Vista.
Here in West Orange County we have “magical” places and people; Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World, Shamu at SeaWorld Orlando and our newest resident, Harry Potter, at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Orlando Resort.
West Orange has two premier hospitals, Health Central and Dr. Phillips, a world-class auto auction, a foundry, citrus packers, manufacturers of set production and bicycles, digital media companies, et al. We have two of the largest regional malls, one air-conditioned, West Oaks Mall, and the other al fresco, Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves. Commuting is a breeze via the 408 and the 429, I-4 and the Turnpike and Highway 50. There are gated communities, homes on traditional streets, historic buildings, downtowns and new town centers.
West Orange County has more than 250,000 residents and the first award-winning Green community—Oakland Park. The median age of our residents is 35 with an average household income of more than $80,000, with more than 60 percent of residents having some college to graduate degrees.
Our community has three high schools that made Newsweek Magazine’s 2010 list of the top 1,600 high schools in the nation and countless rated “A” elementary and middle schools. Our schools of higher education include Valencia Community College with “Direct Connect” to the University of Central Florida and the DAVE school.
We have nearly 200 lakes, more than 50 parks with 19 miles of the West Orange Trail and 20 golf courses, public, private and resort. Throughout the year, West Orange hosts outdoor concerts, farmers’ markets, food tastings, parades and music and art festivals. Living up to our reputation of “Preserving Our Past… Building to the Future,” the West Orange Chamber of Commerce, along with the West Orange community, embraces our past and protects our history through programs and organizations such as the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, Ocoee Founders’ Day, the Oakland Nature Preserve and Friends of Lake Apopka.
On behalf of the West Orange area businesses and community members, we invite you to come and discover West Orange County. Be a part of our future and journey through our historic past. If you’re looking for a place with the future in mind and a small-town atmosphere, West Orange is the community for you. Once you have become a member of our community, you will find that you may never wish to leave, and we welcome you to stay. In addition, we hope that you will support the many merchants and businesses that you will find in this publication.
