Carroll County is located in the northern area of Georgia, just east of
the Alabama border. Less than 45 miles to Atlanta, the county is within
100 miles of both Birmingham, AL and Chattanooga, TN. The city of Carrollton
resides as the county seat, surrounded by the towns of Bowdon, Mt. Zion,
Roopville, Whitesburg, Villa Rica, and Temple. Several highways grant
access to all areas of the state and around the country. Route 27 splits
the county north/south, as I-20 will take travelers east to Atlanta or
west to Alabama. State highways 16, 5, 61, and 166 serve local transportation
needs.
