The
arrival of Wal-Mart's distribution center in 2000 was a major cue for
the economy of Carroll County. A new water reservoir, fibre-opitc cable
network, expanded runway, technology-enhanced learning center, and a small
business incubator program has also contributed to the advancement of
the area's economic situation. The county is home to over 100 manufacturers
and six international firms. Four highly developed industrial parks add
to an already accredited workforce. The major employers of the area are
Southwire, Tanner Health System, Carroll County Schools, Gold Kist, Bremen-Bowdon
Investment and State University of West Georgia.
