Education
Harris County’s public school system is recognized as one of the best in the state due in part to small class size and a staff of dedicated teaching and administrative professionals. The Harris County Board of Education operates four
elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, as well as an Educational Opportunity Center. The system is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Higher educational opportunities abound nearby at Columbus State University and Columbus Technical College in Columbus; at LaGrange College and West Georgia Vocational Technical College located in LaGrange; and West Point; and Auburn University.
