Pelham is home to many historic landmarks, one being the Hand Trading Company Building which has been described as a "Big Store in a Country Town." Also in Pelham, the Wildlife Festival is held every year, growing bigger and better along with the Auction for the Arts. The city of Baconton, the birthplace of the paper-shell pecan industry in Georgia, hosts the annual Pecan Festival in November celebrating the seasons harvest. The Sale City Volunteer Fire Departments "Fall Festival" is held on the second weekend of October, and welcomes one and all to great food and activities for all ages. Sale City, could be described as "the smallest town with the biggest heart and the most volunteers in Georgia." All of these events entice visitors to Mitchell County, as well as the many historic sites, scenic plantations, and fishing in the Flint River.
