There are 35 schools in the Houston County School System, serving over 23,500 students that rank above national and state scores in standardized tests. Perry has one primary school, five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The Westfield School, a private institution, is an alternative to public education. Institutions of higher learning located in the area include Middle Georgia Technical College, Macon State College, Mercer University, Wesleyan College, Fort Valley State University, Georgia College and State University, Middle Georgia College and Georgia Southwestern College.
