Parks and Recreation

In the county, Roselane Recreation Complex offers all the traditional sports and leagues. There are walking trails and a 24-hole disc golf course, rated number one in Georgia. There is a Senior Center and a Community Activity Center with a therapeutic pool, gymnasium and meeting rooms. Down the street is a driving range and bowling alley.

In the city, Henderson Falls Park offers a playground, amphitheatre, picnic shelters, stream and waterfall, nature trail and open space. Doyle Street Park has baseball and softball fields, community center and a pool run by the YMCA. Alewine Park has three soccer fields.

We are the hometown of Paul Anderson, a gold medalist in weightlifting in the 1956 Olympics. A park was established in his honor at the intersection of Tugaloo Street and Big A Road.

The Pines is a 9-hole golf course designed to take advantage of the beautiful hills of Toccoa. Currahee Club is the award-winning golf community with a Jim Fazio-designed golf course, named one of the top 50 residential courses in the US and top 15 courses in Georgia.

Lake Hartwell (962 miles of shoreline) and Lake Yonah provide endless water-related activities. Hartwell is one of the largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi. Stephens County Park and Spring Branch are two of the five boat access ramps and are great spots for picnics. North of the lake is Yonah Dam Park which provides fishing access to the Tugaloo River.

The Chattahoochee National Forest offers trails for hiking including the Broad River Trail and Panther Creek Trail which was named a Reader’s Choice “Top 100 Trail in the US” by Backpacker Magazine. Visitors will relish beautiful waterfalls and easy access to some of the best trout fishing in Northeast Georgia. The Frady Branch Trail system is for mountain biking and horseback riding. The Locust Stake Trail system is for dirt bikes and ATVs. TSC was named as one of the “Top 200 Best Towns for Outdoorsman” by Outdoor Life magazine – the source for hunting and fishing adventure.
