Heart of Georgia

Walton County is located in the heart of Georgia between Atlanta (an hour to the west) and Athens (40 minutes to the northeast). It is a prime location for both residents and businesses. Several interstates and highways provide convenient access throughout the area including I-20, US Hwy. 78, and Georgia Highways 10, 11, 81, 83, 138 and 186.

The area is served by 21 trucking companies and rail service is provided by the Great Walton Railroad. Residents also have access to Amtrak in nearby Atlanta. Monroe Municipal Airport provides air service. The airport has expanded to 5,000 feet, added full length parallel taxi way. New lighting and GPS instruments approach added. Travelers can also utilize air service through the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta.
