Walton County public schools provide a technologically advanced environment for students to learn, grow and succeed. The school district was awarded 9th place in the nation for “Tech-Savvy School Board” by the Center for Digital Education. A commitment to providing the most up-to-date information for both students and parents is found throughout the school system. Walton County Schools consists of two primary schools, six elementary schools, 3 middle schools, two high schools, and one alternative school serving over 11,000 students annually.

Walton County Schools serves all the cities and towns within the county except for Social Circle which maintains its own school district. Social Circle is well-known for its improved test scores over the past few years. Parents can also choose to enroll their children in the community’s private schools. University of Georgia – Athens is nearby for students wishing to continue their education at a higher level. Athens Technical Institute has a satellite branch in Monroe for the convenience of students in the area.
