Georgia Peanut Festival, Inc.
Held in October annually since 1963, the Georgia Peanut Festival celebrates Worth County's famous cash crop: peanuts. The goober has been so successful, Sylvester has become known as the "Peanut Capital of the World." Festivities include street dances, junior parades for younger children, a beauty pageant, a large parade that attracts thousands of people, and arts and crafts.
National Grits Festival
Beginning in April 1998, Warwick's claim to fame attracts several thousand people from all over to celebrate one of the South's greatest delicacies. Activities include singing and dancing, arts and crafts, and lots of good food. Check out their Web site for more details.
Both Sylvester and Poulan celebrate the Yuletide season in a big way. Both cities sponsor a Christmas parade that winds its way through each downtown area. Call City Hall for more details (Sylvester 229-776-8505; Poulan 229-776-4097).
