Hailey residents cherish their rural lifestyle and scenic vistas, but the area also hosts a variety of small businesses, which provide significant employment and services to its citizens. Its largest employers are Power Engineers, Blaine County School District, Wood River Medical Center, and the City of Hailey.

Agri-businesses such as lumber and wood products, beef cattle, nursery/greenhouses and horse farms also contribute to the economy. Tourism, from the area's national parks and ski resorts, is also one of the largest industries in the Hailey area.
