In the fall of 1994, the Desert Mountain Visitor Center opened its doors just off I-84 and exit 95. The Center is owned by the City of Mountain Home and is operated by the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce. The Retired Seniors Volunteer Program helped in recruiting as many as 85 volunteers to greet out-of-towners. The center provides information for Elmore, Owyhee and Camas counties, maps and brochures about Idaho, and even neighboring states. The center is open year-round, and offers locally made Idaho gifts, coffee mugs, sweatshirts, hats, collectibles and various other Idaho souvenirs. For more information call 587-4464.
