Mountain Home Education

Mountain Home School District 193 serves the public schools in the city of Mountain Home, Mountain Home Air Force Base, and portions of rural Elmore County. We serve approximately 4,300 students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Schools in the district are generally organized into elementary schools (three) containing grades K-4, a middle school with grades 5-7, a junior high with grades 8-9, and a high school consisting of grades 10-12. Students living on Mountain Home Air Force Base attend one of two schools on base up through 6th grade. All 7th grade students and above are bused to schools in the community of Mountain Home, a distance of approximately 10 miles. Pine Elementary/Junior High School is a rural, one-room school, which has students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. All schools in the district are approved by the appropriate accrediting agencies.

Mountain Home High School has a graduation rate of approximately 96%. Research indicates that approximately 38% of our graduates go on to four-year colleges or universities, 13% to two-year colleges or universities, 4% to business or technological schools, 10% to the military and approximately 23% directly to the workforce. Roughly 40% of our students take the ACT exam each year, recently achieving a composite score of 20.8. A very small percentage of students take the SAT. Complete information is available on our website.

The most recent data from the Idaho State Department of Education indicates that the student-to-teacher ratio in the district, based on average daily attendance, is 18/1 for the elementary grades and 16/1 for the secondary grades.
