Pocatello Area Chamber of Commerce

Business

New and existing businesses in the Pocatello area can draw from a variety of resources. In addition to the Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce, businesses may benefit from the services offered by Bannock Development Corporation (BDC), a professional economic development organization that provides services and information to current and prospective companies. BDC can assist with information on land and existing buildings available in the area.

With such an active economic development presence, businesses continue to expand and develop at a steady rate. Idaho State University employs more than 3,000 workers, and plays an ongoing role in the development of the business community. ISU hosts the area’s Business and Research Park, which provides business development support and services, and houses a business incubator for fledgling companies.

AMI Semiconductors, located in the Business and Research Park, employs more than 1,200 individuals. Since locating in Pocatello, this application-specific chip manufacturer has experienced a sales increase of approximately $230 million.

Union Pacific Railroad, which provides extensive rail service to the area, has one of the largest railway classification yards. Union Pacific employs more than 600 individuals.
