A Dynamic Vision Lives On

?We are fortunate to live and work in a region that values and embraces a conservation ethic. The commitment to a culture of conservation, begun in 1971 by the founders of Citizens for Conservation, continues to thrive, gain momentum and expand in new programs and visionary projects.
- Sam Oliver

Barrington is the type of community where children return as adults to raise their children, renowned school district,
prestigious neighborhoods, and first-class people, a fabulous place to work and live!
- Steven L. Smith, CRA

As a preschool and provider of early childhood education, the Academy of Stars has been fortunate to be of service in a community that values education. All the social, cognitive, emotional and academic growth begins in the first few years. It is our goal to nurture that spirit and creativity in each child.
- Noreen Stass, Director
Lake Barrington Academy of Stars (Where the Children Shine)

As a govermental body, we feel that the exposure to the Chamber membership is invaluable. We are able to participate in all the activities and as members serve on numerous committees which are beneficial to the community within which we serve.

The Chamber in the Barrington area is the voice of the
Barrington business community.
- Gene Dawson, Supervisor
Barrington Township

The greatest benefit of being a member of the BACC is the opportunity to meet and network with so many of Barrington's business professionals, as well as the chance to partner with the Chamber on Workforce Issues that affect our community.
- Monica Keane
Barrington Career Center

As a nonprofit community organization, we find that our Chamber membership provides us with many opportunities to dialogue with other Chamber members. These exchanges then become a conduit for us to provide information about our Barrington Library, and the role our organization plays in enhancing Library programs and its facilities. We, in turn, receive valuable business information about other businesses and nonprofit groups, thus all Chamber members share in member enrichment.
- Mary Ellen Henehan
Representative of Friends of the Barrington Area Library,

Apart from the fact that we have a great Chamber president [who] promotes and supports her members, as a nonprofit consultant, I get to see first-hand how my work makes a difference throughout the Barrington community.

The Barrington region is not only unique in the northwest suburbs of Chicago because of the number of divergent communities that comprise the area, including the 510-acre gated “resort” community of Lake Barrington Shores. Unlike other gated communities, LBS, as it has become to be known, is a mature development containing 1,317 manor, carriage, and townhouses along with a few duplex models in about 425 separate buildings. The property also contains a 100-acre lake; 18-hole golf course; 35-acre private forest preserve; and an activity center with indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, whirlpool and a modern, fully-equipped fitness center.

2,600 residents call Lake Barrington Shores their home.
- John Schaller, President
Lake Barrington Community Homeowners Association

When I opened Coyote Marsh in 2000, one of the reasons I decided to operate out of the Barrington area was so I could reconnect with my family. My previous job had me in the air most of the time, so I wanted to have the flexibility to be involved with my kids as they were growing up too quickly. Barrington provided all the goods and services and high-speed Internet connections I needed to successfully launch my
business.

Membership in the Barrington Chamber has given me a sense of what I call greater connectedness. I better understand what’s happening in the region and am able to carve out a role for myself to help contribute what I can to keep Barrington a great community to live, work and play.

People here get involved. Whether it’s through youth sports, school activities, local charities, churches or organizations, Barringtonians aren’t afraid to open their checkbooks or roll up their sleeves to help out.
- Michael Beightol

I moved my law office from Chicago to Barrington over 30 years ago. I have never regretted it for a moment. My Barrington area clients are wonderful. It is a joy to come to the office and meet with my clients.

Joining the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce was the best thing I could do for my small business mainly because I feel that I am more recognized among the Barrington window treatment specialists than ever before. While the Welcome Neighbor program expanded my clientele in Barrington area over the last 12 years, the marketing resources and knowledge I've gained through Chamber seminars was even more profitable.

Lastly, the contacts with local businesses [have] provided great networking contacts within the community.

As a member of BACC and a resident of Barrington, I can truly say I have enjoyed my growth here on a personal level as well as business level. Barrington is a true community where individuals unite together to help accomplish goals for community. We are caring professionals as well as concerned community members and families. That is what sets Barrington apart from other communities in all arenas—education, sports, healthcare, fitness, banking, park districts, environmental issues, etc. You care...Barrington cares...and we all grow!!! That is why I joined BACC.

Locating my office in Barrington, and moving my family here, has turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made in my professional life. The sense of community here makes this a great place to live.

“To those whom much is given, much is expected,” states
the quote.

The businesses and people of the Barrington region set the standard for this practice.

We at the Ecker Center for Mental Health, commend them for their example.
- Mary Ann Stephens, PR/Development

To me what makes the Barrington area unique is the blend of country living with all the conveniences of urban living. The greater Barrington area boasts more green space, flora and fauna than any other surrounding area. Residents living in this community can’t help but feel blessed; it is like being on
vacation in your own home. What that translates into for the business community is that when people love where they live, they are more likely to indulge in things that enhance that happy feeling such as entertainment and items to beautify their homes and gardens.
- Liz Bremner
Fresh Flower Market

Barrington is a wonderful small town with lots of business
opportunities and great people with whom to work.
- Mary Gerak-Ambrose, Attorney at Law

The Barrington Chamber is by far the most active Chamber
I have witnessed in my business experience. The resources, speakers, networking opportunities and community involvement have made my association with the BACC invaluable...I cannot select just one benefit!
- Jennifer Glacken

The absolute best advantage of the community of Barrington is the comradery the business people share. We have a rare group of concerned, civic-minded business personnel who actively work in the best interest of the community.

As the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates
40 years of service to the members and residents of the Barrington area, the Barrington Lions Club salutes the leadership, who, over the years, have made the BACC an extremely viable instrument in the growth of the communities served by the BACC. The increased membership in the BACC is testimony to the success and the excellence of service not to only the members, but to the residents of all of the communities as well. The Barrington Lions Club is proud to be a longtime member of the BACC, and we look forward to our continuing partnership, and the sharing of our mutual motto, We Serve.
- Lion James A. Wilson

The greatest benefit of BACC membership has been to enlighten us regarding issues that affect our business. This occurs directly through the Chamber and indirectly through the local Chamber members that we have met by networking through the Chamber of Commerce.
- Joseph Lucas, Attorney at Law

The greatest benefit of locating La Pomme de Pin in Barrington has been our customers. We have such an amazing group of regulars at our store. People come in to shop, and before you know it, we’re sharing ideas for recipes; talking about organics and sustainable practices; and getting genuinely engaged over topics around food, wine and the pleasures of the table. Many of my customers have become good friends, and I wouldn’t change that for anything.
- Erin Bailey
La Pomme de Pin Market + Catering

I believe the greatest benefit in having a membership with the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce is the fact that we
are able to introduce ourselves as business partners to the
Chamber’s business community. The Barrington area has
many local business owners where we also develop personal
relationships with other local business owners and industry leaders.

We are excited that the BACC grows every month, as this gives us the opportunity in meeting new customers who love classic Italian food every month as well.

Thank you and we look forward in serving you at La Strada Ristorante on Barrington Road.
- Michael Mormando

What sets Barrington apart is its rural nature that has been preserved throughout the years yet great access to downtown by Metra and the great school system.
- Linda Peterson, Presidential Assistant/Designer

The benefit of the Chamber to the entire community is the dedication of its members to keep Barrington vibrant, friendly and a great place to live.
- Norval Stephens

Our membership in the BACC allows us to promote ourselves as a local Barrington company. We specialize in consumer robotic products. We evaluate consumer robots and provide demonstrations. Local people buy from us because they know they can trust us.
- Kathy Moseler
Paradise Robotics

I think the greatest benefit of BACC is the opportunity to serve others. Over the years I have built friendships throughout the community that have not only benefited my business but [have] also enabled me to get more involved with giving back to the community as well.

What sets Barrington apart for The Garlands is its loyal residents as well as its power as a desirable destination to draw newcomers.

As a premier retirement community, The Garlands of Barrington has the pleasure of serving two distinct populations. The first group is the more obvious one, those who have lived in the area, raised their families here and contributed to the community in important ways over the years. They are long-time, loyal Barrington-area residents who are delighted to retire and live a chore-free and amenity-rich life at The Garlands. The second population, representing over 50 percent of The Garlands current membership, has come from far and near, by passing many other retirement options in favor of The Garlands’ quality and the resources that the Barrington area has to offer (of course the chance to be closer to kids and grandchildren is often a wonderful, added bonus)!

Thanks for the opportunity!
- Luanne Allison

The Barrington area is great for business owners, like myself, because it’s a small, welcoming community focused on helping others. The BACC is a great opportunity for small business owners to get together to network, plus develop new friendships.
Thanks

Barrington is a unique community because of it[s] citizens
dedication to service. Be it family, faith or vocation, the overarching mindset is creating a better life experience for all of our community. The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce represents the essence of grass-roots service to society.
- Timothy E. O'Donnell, Financial Advisor
GCG Financial, Inc.

As a relatively new member of the BACC, my expectations are to grow awareness to the offerings of my business that benefit the members and community, to better understand the needs of the market, and to have the opportunity to meet members. This approach several years ago worked very well in my favor and for the community when I first became owner of Leader Hardware (formerly True Value, now Ace).
- John McHugh, Jr.

The incredible amount of vast land, open space and wildlife! You would have to take a safari to see more animals than we have in the Barrington area. Makes me feel like just staying here!
