Music lovers will delight in the numerous orchestras located throughout the Fox Valley. The Norris Center often plays host to the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Other orchestral organizations that draw large audiences are the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Fox Valley Concert Band and the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra.
The pure fun of minor league baseball is available in Geneva, Batavia’s next door neighbor. The Kane County Cougars, the Class A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, entertain sports fans from April through September at the Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva. When the Cougars are out of town, the stadium is used for many other community events including outdoor concerts.
Art enthusiasts must visit the Campbell House located at Kirk and Cherry Lane. Several art exhibits are featured throughout the year. Maintained by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Campbell House is a source of deep pride as it showcases local artists from Kane County as well as the Chicagoland area.
Chicago, a quick trip by car or commuter train, allows Batavians to enjoy the many cultural attractions of a major metropolitan area – from its acclaimed museums and galleries to the Lyric Opera, and its famed theatres such as the Steppenwolf Theatre Company to a full-range of professional sports venues.
