Visitors and residents alike are delighted by the multitude and diversity of recreational and entertainment opportunities available in Bloomingdale. Old Town Park comes alive during the summer months, hosting evening concerts, Movies in the Park, and the annual September Fest celebration. Sunshine Serenade concerts are hosted in the Founders Gazebo. The annual Family Fest in June provides four days of games, rides, food and live entertainment for the fair goers.
RECREATION
The mission of the Bloomingdale Park District is “to efficiently and economically provide recreation programs, facilities and open space designed to provide enjoyable leisure time experiences that benefit the community.” Through this mission, the park district strives to set an example for other public agencies in the area.
In addition to maintaining all of the village’s parks and recreational areas, the Bloomingdale Park District also works to build partnerships with other village organizations, run programs, and provide, maintain and expand space, among other duties.
Presently, the park district maintains 11 parks: Circle Park, Indian Lakes Park, Lakeview Park, Leslie Park, Old Town Park, Seasons 4 Park, Springfield Park, Stratford Park, Sunnyside Park, Tompkins Park and Westlake Park. The parks offer a variety of activities and amenities, from basketball courts, baseball diamonds, playgrounds, soccer fields and tennis courts to ice rinks and tot lots.
The park district also features the Johnston Rec Center, which contains three basketball courts and a swimming pool, and Westfield Gym. The gym holds a walking track and two basketball courts.
Programs offered through the park district include karate, golf, ice skating, and dance-oriented classes such as tap dancing.
The Park District also maintains and operates the Bloomingdale Park District Museum. The museum hosts art exhibits, photography shows and other special events.

BLOOMINGDALE GOLF CLUB
Bloomingdale Golf Club was once the site of Glendale Golf Course. Opened in 1924, the original course designer, Tom Bendelow, was also an integral participant in the design of Medinah Country Club.
When the Village of Bloomingdale purchased the 72-year-old Glendale Golf Course in 1996, a commitment was made to create a challenging course with outstanding amenities within a country club setting. In the fall of 1998, the Village brought on the golf course architecture firm, Lohmann Golf Design to handle this task. To make the course more challenging, four holes were re-designed and strategically placed ponds, sand bunkers and grass mounding were incorporated throughout the course. With the renovations complete and now a par 71 golf course, don’t let the distance of 6,251 yards from the blue tees fool you. CENTURY THEATRE CINEPLEX
Century Theatre Cineplex is Bloomingdale’s newest movie theatre located in Stratford Square Mall.
