A major resource for those who live and work in Bolingbrook is the Fountaindale Public Library, which boasts a user friendly, computerized card catalog. A member of the Heritage Trail Library System, Fountaindale houses an extended business collection and serves as the system's Business Resource Center in its Bolingbrook building at 300 West Briarcliff Road. Its sister library in Romeoville, 201 Normantown Road, houses an extended medical collection. Fountaindale ranks among the top libraries in the State and enjoys the reputation for outstanding programming and services for children, beginning at six months of age. The summer reading program encourages reading for fun and offers activities geared for toddlers through high school with opportunities for adults to be involved as well. Drive-up services
are available at the Bolingbrook location. The drive-up is open 24 hours
a day to return books, and is also available to residents who call ahead
to pick up library materials. A buzzer at the drive-up window alerts staff
inside that assistance is needed at the drive-up. New technologies keep the collection current with on-line searches and access to the Internet. The comprehensive collection of books is supplemented by CD-Rom databases and a magazine index for over 1100 periodicals and newspapers. By logging on to the librarys web-site, users can access the librarys automated catalog from a personal computer at home or business. Any district resident may obtain a library card by showing two forms of identification with current address. Children may obtain library cards with a parents signature. A Fountaindale library card can be used at most libraries in the Chicago area. Library hours are: Monday through Thursday, 9-9; Friday and Saturday, 9-5; and Sunday 1-5.
