
Strategically located in northern Illinois, Boone County is just minutes away from Rockford, one of the largest cities in the state. Belvidere is located adjacent to Interstate 90, the major east-west route from Chicago through Madison, Wisconsin and Minneapolis, Minnesota. With close proximity to Interstate 39, residents also have access to the major north-south route from Rockford to Bloomington. Residents are just one hour away from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and one hour and a half from Chicago’s Midway International Airport. Local air travel service is also available at the Chicago/Rockford International Airport, just a few miles to the west of Belvidere.
The Chicago/Rockford International Airport provides a convenient alternative for air travel. Two passenger airlines offer connecting flights to more than 400 domestic and international destinations. Eight airfreight services also serve the airport. The Chicago/Rockford International Airport is a Foreign Trade Zone with a U.S. Customs Point of Entry and public warehousing facilities. Both corporate and privately owned aircraft are based at the Poplar Grove Airport, located on Rte 76 north of Belvidere in Poplar Grove, Illinois.
