

In April 2009, Boone County welcomed SwedishAmerican’s newest hospital, located in Belvidere. The SwedishAmerican Medical Center is a 55-bed inpatient hospital and boasts an emergency department that is staffed with all board-certified physicians and features advanced imaging capabilities with CAT and Ultrasound services. The Boone County area is served by exceptional healthcare facilities. State-of-the-art hospitals like OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, located on the eastern side of Rockford, is a Level I Trauma Center facility. This facility is home to the Regional Burn Unit, Regional Heart Institute, the Illinois Neuroscience Institute and the new Center for Cancer Care. Saint Anthony College of Medicine also serves as a teaching hospital for nursing.
University of Illinois College of Medicine-Rockford is a teaching hospital and serves as the site for the Northern Illinois Mobile Intensive Care Program.

Rockford Health Systems operates Rockford Memorial Hospital, a full-service hospital with a Level I Trauma Center and numerous specialized programs, including the REACT medical helicopter; Regional Dialysis Center; Neonatal/Pediatric Intensive Care units; a Family Birthing Center; and ASK-A-NURSE, a 24-hour health information and referral service.
Boone County offers multiple locations for walk-in care, including the Boone County Department of Health, Crusader Community Health and Physicians Immediate Care, as well as the Regional Hospital Affiliated Clinics like SwedishAmerican Medical Group and Rockford Health Physicians OSF Medical Group, Shappert Primary Care, and many other doctors’ offices.
Established in 1911, SwedishAmerican Hospital is recognized nationally for excellence in the fields of cardiovascular medicine, cancer treatment, psychiatry, mental health treatment, obstetrics, laser and emergency medicine. This acute-care facility is home to the area’s busiest emergency room. In addition, this teaching hospital is affiliated with the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Maple Crest and Northwoods Care Centres are both care facilities for short- or long-term care ranging in therapy from skilled occupational therapy to rehabilitation and complex medical nursing care.
