Kankakee County offers countless recreational activities for the whole family, and Bradley-Bourbonnais is home to many of these.
Bradley-Bourbonnais is home to two of the finest golf courses throughout the county: Aspen Ridge Golf Course, offering an 18-hole, Par 70 course for golfers around the area; and the Bon Vivant Country Club in Bourbonnais, which provides two 18-hole courses, offering modern golfers a difficult championship course sure to provide a challenge.
The Bon Vivant Country Club course was rated the Chicago District Golf Association’s toughest public course. Also available is a golf driving range at Hidden Cove in Bourbonnais.
Situated on 4,000 scenic acres, the Kankakee River State Park offers locals an abundance of recreational activities. With trails extending for miles on both sides of the river, residents can choose to bike, hike, horseback ride, cross-country ski, or go snowmobiling. Canoeing, fishing, camping and picnic areas are also among the list of various family-friendly activities provided at the park. The park is located on Route 102.
The Bourbonnais Township Park District provides residents with activities for both adults and youth. It also offers various family-oriented alternatives including the Perry Farm, the Exploration Station and Whispering Willow Park, the newest addition to the Bourbonnais Township Park District.
The Perry Farm, with construction dating back to the 1800’s by the Durham family, is one of Bradley-Bourbonnais’s most popular places for recreation. The Perry Farm sits on 170 acres of land and offers four miles of paved paths that can be used for biking, hiking, and rollerblading. Oak Meadows, original Indian caves available for exploration, the Fruit Tree Orchard, vast picnic areas, farm animals, and an extensive children’s museum known as the Exploration Station are all provided for enjoyment and enrichment. The Exploration Station offers children the chance to learn through diverse hands-on experiences. Exhibits include a new multi-level medieval castle, an emergency room and ambulance, a science laboratory, and much more. The Perry Farm also offers free concerts to families throughout the summer season. The Exploration Station and Perry Farm are located at 459 Kennedy Drive in Bourbonnais.
Whispering Willow Park is the latest addition to the Bourbonnais Township Park District and is comprised of trails, gardens, ponds and the Willowhaven Interpretive Center. The Interpretive Center provides children and adults with numerous engaging programs and educational exhibits on Illinois wildlife, wetlands and conservation. It is located at Skyline Road and North Street. Another site for recreational activities for all ages is the Hidden Cove Family Fun Park located at 70 Ken Hayes Drive in Bourbonnais. Hidden Cove provides year-round activities for people of all ages including go-karts, Euro-bungy, roller-skating, bumper cars, a climbing wall, miniature golf, paintball, batting cages, a driving range, and much more.
