With these two locations in such close proximity to the Village, it is extremely easy to access air travel for residents who live in the area—or who travel a good deal for business. In addition, Buffalo Grove is near two federal highways, four state highways and four railroads.

In some cases, traveling by car is the easiest way to go. Access to highway driving isn’t a problem from Buffalo Grove, whether heading into the city or elsewhere. There are a host of interstate expressways nearby including 290, 294, 90, 94 and 355. Illinois Route 53 is also a conveniently located option.

Those who prefer to leave the car behind can ride the bus, or even take a bus to the train station. The Pace Transportation Center is located at 801 Commerce Court in Buffalo Grove. There are six bus routes that serve people traveling in and through the Village as well as a “Park-n-Ride” facility at Deerfield Parkway & Commerce Court. Pace Route 626 offers express service to the Skokie Swift—a train beginning at the Dempster station in Skokie and running into the city, stopping at Howard. Pace Route 234 travels along Milwaukee Avenue and Dundee Road, and there are “shuttle bugs” that run during peak hours between different locations in the area. There are also regular Pace routes in the Village that provide transportation to a variety of popular destinations, including the trains.

This particular line has nine inbound and ten outbound trains on weekdays and runs between Antioch and Union Station in Chicago. Stops on either side of Buffalo Grove include Wheeling and Prospect Heights to the south and Prairie Crossing and Vernon Hills to the north.

Buffalo Grove is also a pedestrian and bicycle-friendly place, with a network of trails that have been developed and are maintained for public use. The trail system in the Village encompasses over 43 miles of wide sidewalks and paths. As traveling “green” becomes more popular, both residents and visitors alike are finding the trails a welcome alternative to driving around town for shorter excursions.

Buffalo Grove is a lovely, growing village with a wide variety of transportation options. Whatever the agenda is for the day, there is definitely a convenient way to get there—no matter how you prefer to travel.
