Continually acknowledged for its excellence in providing the community only the best in recreational offerings, the Buffalo Grove Park District, for the third time since its inception, has earned recognition as a Distinguished Agency under the Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association Distinguished Agency Program—an acclaimed honor received by less than 10 percent of eligible agencies.

In addition to this choice recognition are a number of additional laurels. The National Recreation and Park Association named the Buffalo Grove Park District the winner of their 2006 Kudos Marketing Award for populations under 100,000. The Director of Recreation and Facilities, Dan Schimmel, won the prestigious Illinois Parks and Recreation Association Professional Recognition Award. Kristy Vik from the Buffalo Grove Golf and Sports Center received the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional of the Year (2007) by Etonic, as well as Golf Range magazine’s Top 50 Golf Professionals in 2007. What’s more, the park district’s golf practice facility won the #1 Golf Dome 2006 Award. All of these prominent accolades show the significance of the Parks and Recreation Department to Buffalo Grove.
