More than 500,000 people regularly shop at the River Oaks Center’s 150 shops and stores.

Two major symbols of Calumet City’s positive and progressive spirit – The Smiley Water Towers – stand tall in the River Oaks Center complex and on the northeast side of town. In 1972, a young Calumet City resident suggested they be painted a vivid yellow with smiley face on their sides. Today those towers still welcome visitors to the community.
