Canton is served by Illinois Routes 78 and 9. The city is situated approximately 23 miles from the Greater Peoria Airport and features its own local airport. The Ingersoll Airport offers east/west and north/south runways with a length of 3,900 feet - perfect for small aircraft.

The nearest interstate exchange is with Interstate 74 at Peoria, approximately 25 miles away. Canton is the home of the 336 Coalition, a strong regional group whose goal is securing four-lane highway access for Fulton County. The 336 Coalition is having great success and has high expectations of achieving its goal.

Rail service in Canton is provided by the Burlington Northern and TP&W Railways.

The Illinois River provides barge traffic a short distance away in the city of Havana.
