Provena Saint Joseph, through a partnership with the University of Illinois at Chicago, offers the only 24/7 Neurosciences program in the Will and Grundy County region. What’s more, the medical center houses the Sister Theresa Cancer Care Center, a nationally-recognized Level II Emergency Department, modern Family Birthing Suites, a Neonatal ICU, a Pediatrics ICU, the Sleep Disorders Center and the Retina Center – not to mention the esteemed St. Joseph Heart Center. This center spans an entire floor in the hospital, affording heart patients the area’s only Open Heart Surgery program, among other heart care services.

The cutting-edge medical center is currently experiencing a major renovation and construction project on its campus in Joliet, with the groundbreaking taking place in June of 2005. In response to the growing demand for health services in the Will and Grundy areas, the development’s outcome will bring about a new eight-story patient tower featuring all private rooms, enhanced critical care units, upgrades to the facility’s current infrastructure and the addition of a new 700-spot parking structure.

Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center remains one of the most superior hospitals, not only in the region and state, but in the entire U.S. This acknowledgment is evidenced through the hospital’s continuous awards and rankings. Most recently, the medical center received HealthGrade’s 2008 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, placing it among the nation’s top five percent of hospitals.
