A National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education report listed Illinois among the best states at preparing students for college. Illinois received high marks in three of the six categories (preparation for college, participation in college, and affordability).
Over 485,000 area students enroll in colleges, universities, community colleges and independent institutions annually.
Over 20,500 master’s degrees, 4,000 professional degrees, and 1,850 doctoral degrees are awarded annually.
