Chicago Heights is strategically situated in prime proximity to the bustling city of Chicago and in direct access to a significant network of major expressways that wind through the Chicago Southland. The heart of the city sits at the crossroads of Lincoln (Route 30) and Dixie Highways.
In addition to Chicago, which is about 20 miles north of Chicago Heights, there are several other major cities located nearby. Its locality within six miles from the Indiana border puts it near Hammond (just 12 miles east of the city) and Schererville and Merrillville, Indiana.
Olympia Fields borders the west, Homewood/Flossmoor borders the north, South Chicago Heights borders the south and Lynwood and Crete are in the city’s circle to the east.

Transportation in and out of the city is easy due to the accessibility of Interstates 55, 57, 80, 90, 94, 294 and 394. Convenient public transportation is available through the Metra commuter rail line on Route 30 in Olympia Fields, as well as Pace providing bus services throughout the city.
Air travel is available through Chicago’s two major airports, O’Hare International (37 miles from the city) and Midway International (21 miles from the city), as well as the nearby Gary/Chicago International Airport, located only 18 miles from Chicago Heights.
