Chicago Ridge, whose twin slogans are "Progressive and Proud- Where people count,'has come a long way since it"s incorporation in 1914. Taking its name from the "ridges" that were left when dirt was removed from the area to fill part of Lake Michigan for the Columbian Exposition, Chicago Ridge is a well-balanced community of Residential, Commercial and Industrial uses. It is well-known for its low property taxes, very low crime rate and friendly, community-minded citizens.

Welcome to the "Friendly Village of Worth." Since its incorporation in 1914, the Village of Worth has remained a place of beauty and serenity. Settlers first arrived in 1858 and named the area after General William J. Worth who won fame in both the War of 1812 and the U.S. War with Mexico. The tree lined streets of the village give it a friendly nature. Whether raising a family or enjoying a well deserved retirement, the Village of Worth truly offers something for everyone.
Worth serves as a hub to the Southwest suburbs and is only some 18 miles from the loop. The quaint train station offers Metra service to the loop with Pace buses making the same commute originating off 111th and Harlem. Midway airport is only 8 miles away and O"Hare 28 miles.
Worth offers a mixture of well known retail outlets and unique shops and restaurants. European imports, customized stain glass production, golf supplies and steaks from Krapil's restaurant that are good enough to make a Texan want to rustle cattle ensure that all tastes and interests are satisfied.
A municipal golf course now under construction has increased property values. Whether one wants a larger home in upscale Worthwoods or a modest and attractive starter, Worth offers a variety of styles, sizes and prices for the young couple, full sized families or those in retirement.
The biggest news in recreation in all of Southwest Cook County is the new municipal 18 hole golf course now under construction along the Cal-Sag in Worth. It will also include a driving range, boat launch, walking trails and athletic fields. The village also has 11 parks, an urban waterfall and a historic museum.
Each year in September the village celebrates Worth Days which recalls the founding of the village. The event features one on the largest parades in the area with a flea market, music, magic shows and a carnival with free rides for children.
Grade school children attend Classes at School District 127 which has classrooms in both Worthwoods school west of Harlem and Worth Elementary School at 111th and Oak Park. The Junior High is located at 112th and New England. Worth is in both Shepard High School District 218 and Stagg High School District 230. All are fine schools.
Worth is conveniently located close to Palos Community Hospital as well as Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. Doctors, dentists and podiatrists all have offices in town and St. Francis Hospital and Rush-Presbyterian also have Satellite medical centers in the village offering excellent Healthcare for everyone.
