Frankfort is among the fastest growing communities is Chicago Southland. In the last decade the population of Frankfort increased by 65 percent and the number of homes nearly doubled.
To accommodate this growth, the 'Jewel of Will County,' as the village is called, has steadily upgraded and improved its infrastructure. Government and business leaders work hand-in-hand to encourage expansion of its business and industrial base.
A prime shopping center in the community is Frankfort Crossing, a retail complex anchored by major food and drug chains and encompassing 150,000 sq. ft. of space. Frankfort Towncenter, the village's traditional downtown, remains viable with a collection of quaint shops, including an old-fashioned ice cream parlor. Visitors and townspeople, alike, are drawn to Frankfort Towncenter to view the Frankfort Historical Society's 'Window Museum' exhibits.
For the sports-minded, Frankfort has two excellent golf courses and an indoor soccer facility.
The village boasts two busy industrial parks located on either side of the Frankfort Airport where commercial air service is available. O'Hare International and Midway Airports are about an hour away. I-80 lies a short distance to the north of Frankfort and I-57 is about the same distance to the east.
