Until the 1960's Glenwood was a quiet, unchanging village situated more than 20 miles south of Chicago's Loop and surrounded by farms and forest preserves.
Today, although the community has 10 times the population it had in 1960, Glenwood has managed to retain its appealing small town attitude and atmosphere. Shopping and schools are an easy distance from subdivisions where homes are well maintained.
To encourage business expansion and attract new enterprises, Glenwood has established a Tax Increment Financing district. Its industrial park is home to more than 50 companies that enjoy easy access to I-80/294 located about a half-mile north of the community.
