Excellent schools, affordable homes, and convenient shopping are some of what Lansing residents praise in their community. The village is located just off I-80, a short distance from its junction with I-94.
Economic development is a shared interest among several organizations in Lansing, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Lansing Businesswomen, Merchants of the Ridge, and the village's Economic Development Commission. Several large industrial firms have facilities in the community, employing many Lansing workers. Several sites for light industry are available.
Lansing has three Tax Increment Financing districts, one retail area, one industrial area, and one that combines both. The appearance of the village's traditional downtown has been enhanced with sidewalk and streetscape improvements. The Landings, a 50-store shopping plaza, augments the central business district.
