Situated southwest of Chicago, Lockport falls within the area influenced by the growing Research Corridor along I-55 in southern DuPage and northern Will Counties. As a result, both new housing and industry are locating in Lockport.
More than 150 years ago, Lockport was a town on the Illinois and Michigan Canal. Now, a point of interest in the National Heritage Corridor, Lockport plays host to tourists following the course of the historic canal.
Lockport is linked with Chicago and other metropolitan communities via I-55 and I-355 (the North-South tollway). It is 35 miles from the Loop.
