New Lenox, "the Home of Proud Americans", is located 36 miles southwest of the Loop. The community prides itself in retaining a "rural America" lifestyle, while at the same time offering convenience and services you would find in an urban setting. A strong and prosperous business community thrives in this residential community, which is proud to retain one of the lowest tax rates in the area. New Lenox has excellent transportation linkage to Chicago and the surrounding metropolitan area. The approval of the new North-South Tollway 1-355 extension has led to great interest in the area with prospects for continued commercial and residential growth.
Housing is predominantly single-family residential dwellings along with some multi-family apartment and condominium units. Properties include a variety of quaint old farm houses, two stories, tri-levels, quad-levels, ranches and custom built homes.
New Lenox is served by two of the best school districts in Illinois which have received recognition for excellence awards given by the U.S. Department of Education. Lincoln-Way High School District #210 is one of the largest high school districts in Illinois and was listed in Money Magazine as one of the 100 best high schools in the nation.
New Lenox Community Park District currently owns land encompassing approximately 400 acres. The District is presently engaged in the development of a community wide recreation facility on 230 acres which will include an 18 hole golf course and recreation center.
