Surrounded on three sides by 15,000 acres of lush forest preserve land, Orland Park families enjoy the great outdoors and take maximum advantage of the more than 150 miles of hiking and biking paths and equestrian trails provided. "Golf Capital of the World," Orland Park is surrounded, as well, by nearly 200 holes of golf in about two dozen semi-private and private golf courses.
The city is also considered the region's shopping center, with more than five million square feet of retail space. Orland Square, an enclosed mall with more than one million square feet of space, is the community's central retail attraction. Runners up are Orland Park Place, a second enclosed mall, and a half a dozen other shopping plazas and strip centers.
More than 100 years old, Orland Park has attracted business interests as well as families. Several business parks house light manufacturing, research, and office facilities and broaden the tax base in the community.
A major asset is the city's Orland Park Village Center complex, composed of the Village Hall, an outdoor amphitheater, a recreation center, and the Civic Center. The Civic Center can accommodate 500 exhibitors and has a smaller hall and meeting rooms for other events.
I-80 and I-294 are within easy reach and the city has two Metra commuter rail stations. O'Hare International Airport is about 50 minutes away, while the drive to Midway Airport takes about 35 minutes.
