Robbins is another community member of the Calumet Regional Enterprise Zone, bringing incentives that encourage economic development and construction of new homes. As a result, several new businesses have established themselves in the community in recent months and several housing developments are underway. Robbins' retail sector is expanding as well.

Among the newest enterprises is the Robbins Resource Recovery Company, a recycling and waste disposal operation that generates electricity as an added byproduct.

Robbins has direct access to I-57 on its west. Pace buses serve the area and commuters can board Metra trains at a station in the village.
