Sauk Village is positioned in south Cook County near the Illinois-Indiana state line. It is 29 miles south of downtown Chicago.

Bordered by forest preserves and with large areas of low-cost, undeveloped land around it, Sauk Village is in a good position to grow. Its efforts at economic development earned it Illinois Certified City recognition in 1992.

The village created a Tax Increment Financing district that includes a 100-acre area dedicated to light, clean industry. Two other business parks are located in the community.

Sauk Village has quick access to the Calumet Expressway that connects with I-80 and I-94.
