Protection and Prevention
The primary objective of Countryside’s Emergency Services Disaster Agency (ESDA) is to provide emergency pre-paredness education. Countryside ESDA is acommitted associate of the Cook County Emergency Management Agency (CCEMA), Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The Countryside Police Department currently has a total of 35 employees. The department patrols all areas within the incorporated boundaries of Countryside. Recent Department projects include updating the 911 PSAP answering system and implementing a Computer Aided Dispatch System.
The Countryside Police Department also continues to offer bicycle and pet registrations, business and residential security surveys, and home vacation watches.

The City of Countryside is served by the Pleasantview Fire Protection District, which employs 52 full-time firefighters/paramedics, eight part-time firefighters, seven full-time dispatchers and two clerical personnel at four stations. The District averages about 3,900 emergency calls per year from throughout its protection area.
Public education programs include teaching fire safety at local schools, CPR classes, ride-a-long programs, babysitting certification classes, blood pressure screening and home fire inspections. The District is currently developing programs to teach senior citizens how to prepare themselves better for emergencies.
