Taking its cue from the metropolis of Chicago, the Village of Crestwood is a “village on the move.” More than 11,000 residents and 550 businesseswork together to keep this town bustling. 

Crestwood was incorporated in 1928. Though it initially developed as a farming community, the village has since grown into an urban town conducive to both families and businesses. In fact, Crestwood is quite possibly the only community in the state to refund property taxes.

Seventy-five percent of the total tax bill has been refunded to homeowners, totaling 33 million dollars in refunds over the past 10 years.

The village is also proud to have one of the lowest crime rates in the metro Chicago area. With hometown heroes the Windy City Thunderbolts to cheer for, a variety of shopping and recreation activities, and a prime location within 15 miles of Chicago, it is no wonder so many people call Crestwood “home.”
