Crystal Lake Arts & Culture

From the Community Choir and Community Band, to the Judith Svalander School of Ballet to the McHenry County Music Center, there are musical opportunities for everyone in Crystal Lake. The Northwest Area Arts Council develops arts and educational programming for adults and children.

Raue Center for the Arts

The Raue Center for the Arts is McHenry County’s premier performing and visual arts center. It has an 850-seat auditorium for live performances, and galleries for exhibits by local and national artists.

The new Lakeside Legacy Arts Park, where art meets history, is located near the shoreline of beautiful Crystal Lake. The Lakeside Legacy Arts Park is actually two historic buildings united as one, the Dole Mansion (circa 1865) and the adjoining Country Club Addition (circa 1926). The former country club has been renamed the Creative Arts Center, home to the Sage Gallery, artists’ studios and arts education programs.

The Crystal Lake Public Library is the primary gateway to the universe of information for the citizens of our community, providing programs for all ages, and  public computers with Internet access. The library maintains a collection of more than 205,000 books, audio books, videos, DVDs, CDs, foreign language materials and much more. Their circulation runs approximately 772,000 items per year.
