Much of the Danville area's charm can be seen when traveling on US SR Route 1, which winds through Danville from North to South. Three federal highways lead to Danville, Route 150 from the west, Route 136 from the east and I-74 borders south Danville and leads to points east and west.

The nearest public airport, Vermilion County Airport, is located on Danville's northeast side. Made of concrete and asphalt, the longest runway is 5,400 feet. Vermilion County Airport has charter services, private maintenance, and fuel available.

The Indianapolis International Airport is approximately 88 miles east of Danville. The nearest commercial airport, Willard Airport, is approximately 40 miles west of Danville in Savoy.

Danville Mass Transit (DMT) has been in operation in Danville since late November 1973. DMT's nine buses provide public transportation to more than 360,000 passengers annually on nine routes through the city. These routes cover the downtown area as well as the outlying areas of Danville. Service is provided to most of the shopping and medical communities.

Three railroad lines, CSX/Conrail, Missouri Pacific, and Norfolk Southern, have regular routes through Danville. The nearest Amtrak station is located approximately 35 miles west of Danville in Champaign.

Danville's average winter temperature is 30.6 degrees Fahrenheit, with an average snowfall of 18.1 inches. The average rainfall is 37.4 inches, and average summer temperature is 76.2 degrees Fahrenheit.
