In Danville, many annual events take place, from Arts In The Park during June in Lincoln Park to the N.J.C.A.A. Division II National Junior College Men's Basketball Championship, held at DACC in March. The nationally and internationally recognized Balloon Classic is hosted at the Vermilion County Airport in June. Many other events, such as the McDonald's Super Series Baseball Tournament held at area ball parks, Community Action Dust Bowl Basketball Tournament, Midwest Men's Senior Hard Court Tennis Championship, and the Hoopeston Sweet Corn Festival at McFerren Park in Hoopeston, round out the year.

Several cross-country runs/walks sponsored by the Kennekuk Road Runners include Siberian Express, Howl at the Moon, Wild Wild Wilderness, and Mountain Goat. Kennekuk Road Runners also sponsor other events throughout the year.
