Danville area's healthcare facilities combine quality medical care and technology with caring and compassion. With a full-service hospital and three multi-specialty clinics, a broad range of specialists and services are available to meet the needs of Danville area residents. Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, a 308-licensed bed facility is a Catholic, nonprofit hospital providing quality healthcare since 1882. It is a Level II Trauma Center located on Logan Avenue. It offers around-the-clock, complete emergency medical services by a staff of specially trained professionals. Services at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center includes inpatient medical care, surgery, intensive care, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, adult psychiatry, telemetry, inpatient gerosychiatry, skilled nursing care, and hospice. The Dialysis Unit offers hemodialysis and periontal dialysis to patients with kidney failure. The latest in imaging technology is found in the Radiology Department with Spiral CT, MRI, bone densitometry, ultrasound, angiography, mammography, and nuclear medicine. The Family Life Center also offers a variety of childbirth education classes and services.
The Provena United Samaritans Medical facility located on Sager houses the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. Here treatment is provided for problem wounds using medication, special dressings, infection control, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Sager Campus also offers Occupational Medicine that provides examinations, treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, health and wellness programs, and various tests to satisfy the employer health needs of the local industry. It is also home to a Continuing Care unit, rehabilitation services and an eye center. Provena Samaritans Health Partners operates Convenient Care, a walk-in clinic at the Sager facility. Patients can be treated for non-life threatening illness and injury without an appointment. The Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation provides financial support for the Medical Center through advocacy and increases awareness of the needs and services of the hospital by expanding its circle of leaders, volunteers, donors, and friends. Several Community Outreach Programs are available through Provena such as Com-LINK, a community information and referral service; Faith In Action and Faith in Action South, which provide senior citizen assistance programs in cooperation with area churches; the HALO Program, help to provide healthier community initiatives; and Women Aware and Young Women Aware, which provide informational and educational programs for women. The Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System provides primary medical care through many outpatient and inpatient services to more than 17,000 veterans over a 250 square-mile area. There are more than 300 authorized hospital beds and 175 nursing home beds in the Danville facility. A wide range of general medical services, surgical procedures and a comprehensive neuro-psychiatric treatment program are provided. The Primary Care Program includes preventive health measures for all patients, including screening for prostate, breast, cervical and colon cancers, and providing flu and pneumococcal vaccine inoculations.
There are also several nursing homes in Danville and the surrounding communities that provide 24-hour nursing service with skilled, intermediate and respite care. The Vermilion County Health Department provides many confidential health services for county residents. Services are provided to promote women's health, and family planning, immunizations, infectious disease, maternal-child health with case management, medical referral and WIC, senior citizens health, environmental health including well testing, food sanitation and lead testing, and std/hiv testing. Some services are also available at the satellite clinic in Hoopeston, Illinois. The Center for Children's Services provides clinical services for children with emotional or behavioral problems. CRIS Senior Services provides assistance for persons age 60 or older with nutrition, including home delivered meals, transportation, victim assistance, and in-home care.
