Brush pick-up is the last full week (Monday – Friday) of the month, April through October. In order for brush to be picked up at your home, please check the following requirements:
Brush pick-up is only for residents living within City limits.
Brush should be neatly stacked at the curb the Sunday before pickup begins in order to ensure that it will be picked up. Crews make only one pass on each street throughout the City during each pick up week.
The chipper is capable of accepting brush up to 4" in diameter. Roots must be trimmed from the bushes because they cannot go into the chipper.
Do not tie brush or put it in garbage cans or plastic bags.
Residents who are unable to put their brush out during the scheduled week can take it to the Public Works Facility, located at 1041 S. Frontage Road, and place it in the brush dumpster. If the brush dumpster is full, we cannot accept it until the dumpster has been emptied. ARC usually empties the dumpsters on Thursdays. If you call our facility, we will be happy to tell you if the dumpster is full. Brush will be accepted Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. No landscape companies are allowed to dump in the brush dumpsters. Grass clippings, leaves and plastic bags will not be accepted.
If you have any questions regarding brush pick up, please contact our Public Works Department at (630) 353-8105.
Darien uses a sticker system in which residents affix one sticker for each 32/33 gallon garbage can or on a garbage bag, and it is picked up on a regularly scheduled garbage day. The weight limit for the garbage is 50 pounds per container. Yard waste can be put in a brown paper bag or put in a garbage can with a "YARD WASTE ONLY" tag affixed to the side. The stickers and tags can be picked up at City Hall.
