Offering low Will County taxes, an educated and skilled workforce, easy access to major highways, a growing population and quality lifestyle, as well as cooperative Village leadership and staff, Frankfort is attracting new business and industry while continuing to support businesses that have been around for decades.
The Village of Frankfort places a high priority on light industrial businesses. This priority has created a surge in industrial growth, improving the quality of development while providing a tax balance for the community. Over 200 acres of new industrial business park developments are planned for 2006 alone.
A number of large national and regional companies make their home in Frankfort. Major industrial employers include Pactiv Corporation, manufacturer of polystyrene foam products (360 employees); Borg-Warner, producer of precision mechanical seals (400 employees); Bradley Industries, manufacturer of book matches (50 employees); Craig Bachman Imports, Inc., distribution and importing of floral supplies (40 employees); Anderson Fittings, distribution of copper and brass fittings and a member of the Marmon Group of companies, (50 employees); Bimba Manufacturing, a manufacturer of pneumatic actuators (30 employees). Additionally, an estimated 120 industrial businesses currently make their home in Frankfort’s industrial area with new businesses relocating to its industrial area every month.
Frankfort is also experiencing unprecedented commercial growth; over 600 business licenses were issued in 2005 (new and renewed). Prairie Crossing, anchored by Kohl’s, Hickory Creek Market Place Phase II, anchored by Home Depot, The Square, Brookside Commons, Frankfort Crossings, Garden Gate, Frankfort Commons and Frankfort Plaza are only a few of the recent commercial developments in Frankfort housing both nationally recognized retailers as well as smaller specialized businesses.
Frankfort’s Low-Interest Business Loan Program was initiated in 1995. The loans may be used for aesthetic, architectural and façade improvements, as well as life-safety code requirements for historic downtown businesses. The Village works side by side with local business owners to ensure a strong economic climate.
A vast inventory of available property is ready for development with limitless opportunities for future commercial and industrial expansion. A property tax levy among the lowest in Will County, approximately 2.2% of real estate value, a streamlined “Fast Track” development review process, fiscally sound government, and a high-quality lifestyle make Frankfort the ideal area for commercial and industrial growth.
