The progressive leaders making up the governing body of the Village of Frankfort include the Village President, Village Clerk and a six-member Board of Trustees. Day-to-day operations of the Village are overseen by a professional Village Administrator and a loyal Village staff. The Village Board meets the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The public is invited to attend and participate in all regularly and specially scheduled meetings.

The Village also encourages strong community participation through a host of committees and commissions, each chaired by a Village Trustee. Among the committees are the Community Services Committee, Economic Development Committee, Financial Affairs Committee and Land Use and Policy Committee, while prominent boards and commissions include the Youth Commission, Board of Fire and Police Commissioners and the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals.

Striving to maintain the high quality of life and low crime rate in the community is at the forefront of the Frankfort Police Department’s mission. The Village’s modern police station, built in late 2003, houses 34 sworn officers and department divisions including Patrol, Investigations and Community Services.

Fire protection is operated by a separate taxing district from the Village. The Frankfort Fire Protection District covers the Frankfort community and its surrounding area. Made up of a combined full-time/paid-on-call force, the organization is dedicated to providing a range of community programming and services to ensure public safety.
