With more than 1,000 businesses, Franklin Park is the fourth most industrialized suburb in Illinois. Commercial, industrial and retail are all part of the business community. The population more than doubles with workers from surrounding areas commuting into town during the workday. The number of employees per business ranges in size from two to almost one thousand. Home to over 500 businesses, Schiller Park’s businesses are primarily concerned with commercial, industrial and retail. Thirteen motor freight terminals, several rail yards, and O’Hare Airport give these businesses easy access to the domestic and international worlds. Often, many of the area’s top businesses deal with or provide services to O’Hare on a daily basis.
